Driver Arrested after Hit-and-Run Crash on Denny Way near Fairview Avenue
SEATTLE, WA (December 25, 2019) – A woman suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Denny Way, Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Seattle Fire Department, the incident happened at about 4:00 PM. A vehicle allegedly ran a red light and struck a westbound SUV near Fairview Avenue. The impact of the collision caused the SUV to flip on its side.
Three people, a man, a woman, and a child, were inside the flipped SUV. Emergency responders transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the man and the child did not sustain injuries in the crash.
The driver of the suspect vehicle attempted to flee the scene on foot. However, authorities apprehended him nearby on Terry Avenue and Denny Way. The driver, described as a man in his 40s, was arrested after being medically cleared.
Investigators believe that alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
