Jaime Hernandez Fatally Injured after Rollover Accident on Longview Road and Avenue S

 
PALMDALE, CA (December 27, 2019) – Jaime Hernandez suffered fatal injuries following a rollover accident on Longview Road on Monday, December 23.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m. around 5 miles north of Pearblossom on Longview Road, south of Avenue S.
 
The driver, who fled after the incident, traveled south in a gray 2001 Toyota sedan. Then he or she lost control and caused the vehicle to veer left and roll over several times.
 
The vehicle stopped on the northbound lane, investigators said.
 
Jaime Hernandez, a 28-year-old from Pacoima, died at the scene, CHP said. The second passenger, 21-year-old Ricardo Barbosa, who’s also from Pacoima, had major injuries. Paramedics transported Barbosa to the Antelope Valley Hospital.
 
CHP has not identified the driver, according to the release as of Tuesday morning. It’s not yet determined why the motorist lost control of the car. The weather was clear. However, the road was wet at the time, CHP said.
 
Authorities stated that high speed, alcohol or drugs might have played a role in the incident. Yet, a thorough investigation is ongoing, the CHP said.
 
Officials closed Longview Road between Avenue S and Avenue T for approximately 3 1/2 hours.
