1 Dead and 1 Injured after Fiery Crash on Highway 152
GILROY, CA (December 21, 2019) – A driver was killed and another driver suffered injuries in a fiery crash on Highway 152, Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:11 PM. A westbound Jaguar was driving at a high rate of speed when it lost control and veered into the wrong lane. Then, the Jaguar collided with an eastbound white GMC and a tractor-trailer.
The impact of the collision caused both the Jaguar and the GMC van to burst into flames. Passing motorists rushed to pull the van driver out of the vehicle.
Emergency responders pronounced the Jaguar driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
An ambulance rushed the van driver to a nearby hospital with major internal injuries. Updates on the victim’s current condition remain undisclosed. Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer driver did not sustain injuries in the crash.
CHP officers continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
