Alfred Tiscareno Jr. Killed after Bicycle Accident on Whittier Boulevard

 
WHITTIER, CA (December 27, 2019) – A 64-year-old bicyclist identified as Alfred Tiscareno, Jr. of Whittier, died after a crash on Monday, December 23.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, at 6:50 p.m., the victim rode his bike westbound on Whittier Boulevard near the on-ramp to the San Gabriel River Freeway. Then a vehicle struck him.
 
The bicyclist sustained serious injuries. First responders rushed him to a hospital, where he died.
 
The driver of the vehicle, Rameshbhai L. Bhakta, 69, of Montebello, left the crash site. Yet, he later called authorities to report he was involved in a crash and then he cooperated with the investigation. Officials did not arrest Bhakta, the CHP said.
 
Authorities said that they do not suspect alcohol or drugs as factors in the crash. The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the CHP.
