Fatality Confirmed in Bakersfield Single-Vehicle Crash on Highway 178
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 23, 2019) — A single-vehicle crash on Highway 178 left a person dead early Friday morning in Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they received a report about the incident at about 2:15 a.m. The crash occurred about four miles east of the mouth of the Kern River Canyon.
The investigators said a vehicle traveling Highway 178 Friday went off the roadway and into the Kern River.
The CHP officials closed the highway at around 7 a.m. to recover the vehicle. They have not released the identity of the victim. Meantime, the investigation is ongoing.
