Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on Senter Road and Needles Drive
SAN JOSE, CA (December 21, 2019) – An 85-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car on Senter Road on Wednesday, December 18.
At around 5:25 p.m., officers rushed to a pedestrian accident at Senter Road and Needles Drive in South San Jose.
The initial investigation determined a 2002 Honda Accord traveled southbound on Senter. Then it struck the woman walking in a marked crosswalk, police stated. She had made it to the center island when the light changed from red to green. After that, she tried to run the remaining distance across Senter Road when a vehicle struck her.
The woman died at the scene. The Honda driver, identified only as an adult male, stayed at the scene. He cooperated with the investigation, police stated.
Officials do not suspect alcohol and drugs as factors.
The identity of the victim was not yet available.
