Tobias Rubio Injured in Madera Three-Vehicle Crash Involving Deputy

 
MADERA, CA (December 20, 2019) — A three-vehicle crash at Avenue 12 and Road 34 1/2 left 22-year-old Tobias Rubio injured Thursday night.
 
The California Highway Patrol said the crash involved a Madera County sheriff’s deputy. It occurred at about 9:30 p.m.
 
An investigation showed that the 40-year-old deputy failed to see the two cars ahead of him. He tried to stop to avoid crashing. However, he ended up colliding into the back of a Dodge Caravan. The Dodge then hit a Nissan Sentra.
 
Emergency crews took Rubio to Madera Community Hospital due to pain in his leg. On the other hand, the deputy was not injured. 23-year-old Nicholas Post who was driving the other vehicle was also not hurt.
 
In the meantime, all three vehicles involved suffered significant damage.
 
The CHP said alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash. However, the investigation is ongoing.
