DUI Driver Arrested after Wrong-Way Crash on 80 Freeway

 
FAIRFIELD, CA (December 21, 2019) – Nine people suffered injuries in a wrong-way crash on 80 Freeway, early Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened shortly after midnight. A westbound Toyota Corolla moved in and out of oncoming traffic at freeway speeds. Then, it crashed head-on to two other vehicles near Abernathy Road.
 
Emergency responders rushed three people to NorthBay Medical Center with major injuries. They were only identified as a 35-year-old Suisun City man, 40-year-old Fairfield man, and a 17-year-old Roseville girl.
 
Six other people, including four children, suffered minor injuries. CHP identified them as a 47-year-old Fairfield woman, a 13-year-old Fairfield girl, an 11-year-old Fairfield girl, a 6-year-old Fairfield girl, a 41-year-old Roseville woman, and a 22-year-old Roseville.
 
Authorities later arrested the wrong-way driver on suspicion of DUI. CHP officers encourage witnesses to help them with the ongoing investigation by calling (707) 428-2100. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
