82-Year-Old Ronald Barrett Hit and Killed by Armored Truck in Las Vegas

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (December 17, 2019) – Authorities identified 82-year-old Ronald Barrett as the man hit and killed by an armored truck in a shopping center parking lot, Tuesday afternoon.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened at about 2:00 PM. The armored truck was stopped in front of WinCo Foods for a passenger to go and get something inside the store. When the passenger returned, the truck drove eastbound in the parking lot.
 
There, it struck Barrett who was using a store-provided motorized cart. The impact of the collision knocked the victim to the ground. Bystanders then attempted to alert the armored truck driver to stop the vehicle.
 
Emergency responders rushed Barrett to University Medical Center, where he later died. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old armored truck driver remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Las Vegas police ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal crash. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
