60-Year-Old Jose Mario Vaquero Killed in Pedestrian Crash in Echo Park
ECHO PARK, CA (December 19, 2019) – Authorities identified 60-year-old Jose Mario Vaquero as the man struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Echo Park, Thursday morning.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened at about 5:20 AM. Police believe that the victim ran into traffic while trying to catch a bus on his way to work. Then, a vehicle struck him on Sunset Boulevard near Douglas Street.
Emergency responders pronounced Vaquero dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
Surveillance video showed that the vehicle was a dark blue Honda Accord with dark tinted windows. In addition, investigators believe that the vehicle has damage to the front end and windshield.
