BOOMTOWN, NV (December 18, 2019) – One person was killed in a pedestrian crash on Interstate 80, Wednesday evening.
 
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 8:20 PM. Due to unknown circumstances, a silver Nissan Pathfinder struck a pedestrian about 4 miles from the California border.
 
Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, NHP arrested the Nissan driver, identified as 21-year-old Francene Irene Vasquez, on misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
 
NHP officers continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Witnesses are encouraged to email ncwmirt@dps.state.nv.us about NHP case #191201504. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
