1 Dead in Oakland Crash on 580 Freeway near Lakeshore Avenue

 
OAKLAND, CA (December 19, 2019) — A driver died in a crash on 580 Freeway near Lakeshore Avenue in Oakland Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a Mercedes was speeding on a curve in the westbound side of the freeway. It then spun out in the rainy conditions and collided with a pickup truck.
 
After that, the driver of the truck exited his vehicle. He was walking around when another vehicle crashed into his truck. The force of the impact sent the truck driver into eastbound lanes. The authorities said he died at the scene.
 
Meantime, the crash prompted the closure of all lanes on 580 Freeway. These reopened after the cleanup and emergency response.
