Maria Luna Identified in Fatal Atwater Pedestrian Accident
ATWATER, CA (December 18, 2019) — The authorities have identified Maria Luna of Winton as the woman who died in a pedestrian accident Monday night in Atwater.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at about 9:30 p.m. A female driver was westbound on Santa Fe Drive near Wallace Road. At the same time, Luna and a man walked near the shoulder of the road.
An initial investigation showed that Luna was walking in the traffic lane. The driver tried to swerve but ended up hitting Luna and pushed her into the man.
The 77-year-old Luna died at the scene. Meantime, emergency crews transported the man to the hospital in unknown condition.
