MONTEREY, CA (December 17, 2019) — Two people were hurt in a multi-car accident on Monterey-Salinas Highway near Olmsted Road on Friday, December 13.
 
Paramedics rushed one victim by ground ambulance to a trauma center at Natividad hospital in Salinas. They transported the other by ground ambulance to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. The extent of their injuries was unknown, according to firefighters at the scene.
 
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
 
One car suffered major front-end damage when it left the highway in a westbound direction. Then it crashed into a tree just before noon, according to firefighters at the scene. The driver’s side airbag was deployed. Another vehicle had major right-side damage.
 
Police closed the westbound lane of the highway at Canyon del Rey Boulevard.
