Middle School Student Hospitalized after Pedestrian Crash on Woodland Parkway
SAN MARCOS, CA (December 16, 2019) – A 12-year-old boy suffered injuries in a pedestrian crash on Woodland Parkway, Monday afternoon.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened at about 2:30 PM. The boy ran through a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Woodland Parkway and Rock Springs Road against the signal.
There, a white Nissan struck him and narrowly avoided hitting a second boy. Witnesses and employees of Woodland Park Middle School rendered aid to the unconscious boy.
Medics airlifted the victim to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego with unspecified injuries. Meanwhile, the second boy did not suffer injuries in the crash.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Sheriff’s detective ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the collision. Investigators encourage witnesses to call Deputy David J. Arnold Sr. at (760) 510-5200. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
