Fatal Rollover Crash on La Pata Avenue near Ortega Highway

 
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (December 14, 2019) – A person died in a rollover crash on La Pata Avenue, late Saturday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 11:05 PM. Investigators believe that a passenger inside a gray Toyota 4Runner possibly grabbed the steering wheel. Then, the vehicle overturned near Ortega Highway.
 
Emergency responders pronounced one person dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, it is unknown whether or not other injuries were sustained in the crash.
 
CHP officers continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
