According to San Diego Police, just after 12:30 p.m., the man traveled south on Genesee Avenue in a 2004 Lexus sedan. Then he apparently ran a red light and made a left-hand turn at Chateau Drive directly in the path of an oncoming 2018 Tesla SUV.
The impact of the incident left the driver of the Lexus dead at the scene. His identity is withheld pending notification of his loved ones. He did not wear any seat belts during the incident, according to authorities.
Emergency responders transported the other motorist, a 73-year old man, to a hospital. He was evaluated for an arm pain, Officer Tony Martinez said.
