POMONA, CA (December 11, 2019) – A man was struck and killed by a car on Temple Avenue in Pomona on early Monday, December 9.
 
It happened at 12:20 a.m. on Temple Avenue near the Shell gas station and before the 57 Freeway off-ramp.
 
According to Pomona Police Sgt. Alyssa Bostrom, the man crossed Temple Avenue at a marked intersection. However, she said police have not yet determined if the pedestrian had a green or red light.
 
She said the driver traveled east on Temple Avenue at the time.
 
Authorities discovered the pedestrian lying on the street. Firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
The coroner’s office described the pedestrian as a man in his 60s. However, they have not yet released his identity.
 
The driver, who stayed at the scene, cooperated with the investigation. Officers released him pending further investigation into the reason behind the incident.
