36-Year-Old Yia Thao Fatally Struck by Car on 55th Street near Florin Road

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (December 9, 2019) – Authorities identified 36-year-old Yia Thao of Sacramento as the pedestrian killed in a crash on 55th Street, Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:00 AM. Due to unknown circumstances, an SUV struck a pedestrian near Florin Road.
 
Emergency responders pronounced Thao dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
CHP officers continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
