Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 8 near Taylor Street

 
OLD TOWN, CA (December 8, 2019) – A person died in a pedestrian accident on 8 Freeway near Taylor Street, early Sunday evening in Old Town.
 
According to the San Diego Fire Department, the incident happened at about 5:56 PM. Due to unknown circumstances, a vehicle struck a pedestrian on westbound Interstate 8 near Taylor Street.
 
Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital.
 
Officers continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
