THOUSAND PALMS, CA (December 5, 2019) – A Riverside County sergeant suffered injuries in a T-bone crash on Monterey Avenue, Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 10:50 AM. The RSO SUV was northbound with patrol lights on as it passed through the intersection. There, a 2006 Chevy Cobalt t-boned the RSO SUV near Varner Road.
 
The impact of the collision deployed the airbag on both sides. A witness rendered aid to the injured sergeant and immediately called for help.
 
Emergency responders transported the sergeant to a hospital with major injuries. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Chevy driver remained and cooperated with investigators. His 17-year-old female passenger was taken to Eisenhower Medical Center, while an infant did not sustain injuries.
 
CHP officials ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the collision. Investigators encourage witnesses to cooperate and reach out as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
