One Dead, Another Hurt after Sumner Train Accidents near Sumner Station

 
SUMNER, WA (December 6, 2019) – One person died and another injured after a Sounder transit train accidents near Sumner Station and near Carkeek Park.
 
A local news source reported that the first pedestrian was hit by Train 1502 south of Sumner Station. It occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3. Because it was a fatality, officials shut down the trains until the medical examiner could investigate.
 
Another pedestrian was hit by a second train at about 8:00 a.m., this one coming from Everett, near Carkeek Park in the Ballard area. The person involved did not sustain fatal injuries and the train continued moving again before 9:00 a.m.
 
According to authorities, a person died after being struck by a Sounder train.
 
The incident stalled multiple south line trains after the south line train 1502 out of Lakewood struck a pedestrian, according to Sound Transit. The train was on its way to Seattle.
 
Authorities sent buses to Puyallup to take passengers to Federal Way, where people can board buses to Seattle.
 
The investigation of the incident is ongoing.
