Driver Arrested in Gold Bar Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 2

 
GOLD BAR, WA (December 6, 2019) – Officials arrested a driver after a fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 2 at 387th Ave. SE on Wednesday, December 4.
 
The accident happened just after 1:30 a.m. when a Mazda RX8 struck a 68-year-old man who was walking along the highway.
 
Trooper Heather Axtman with the Washington State Patrol said that the paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
Officials arrested the driver of the Mazda, a 32-year-old woman, for investigation of vehicular homicide.
 
Investigators are still determining what led up to the incident and why the man was on or near the roadway. His name was not yet released.
 
Authorities shut down the westbound lanes while troopers investigated. It has since reopened.
