Pedestrian Dies after Accident Involving Caltrain near Mary Avenue
SUNNYVALE, CA (December 2, 2019) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident near Mary Avenue, Monday morning.
According to Caltrain, the incident happened at about 6:00 AM. A woman was reportedly trespassing on tracks north of a Sunnyvale stop. There, a northbound 305 Baby Bullet train struck the victim near Mary Avenue.
Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the 170 passengers aboard the train did not sustain injuries in the collision.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
