SAN JOSE, CA (December 2, 2019) – A woman was struck and killed by a light-rail train on Race Street, Monday evening.
According to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, the incident happened at about 6:10 PM. Due to unknown circumstances, a light-rail train struck a pedestrian near Parkmoor Avenue.
Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, it is unknown whether or not other injuries were sustained in the collision.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
