31-Year-Old Amanda Jean Mitchell Struck and Killed by Car on Interstate 5
BLAINE, WA (November 16, 2019) – Authorities identified 31-year-old Amanda Jean Mitchell of Bellingham as the woman struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 5, early Saturday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:00 PM. Due to unknown reasons, Mitchell ran across the median and into traffic. There, a southbound vehicle hit her near Birch Bay-Lynden Road exit.
Emergency responders pronounced Mitchell dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Snohomish driver remained and cooperated with investigators.
WSP officials continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
