2 Sent to Trauma Center after Newport Beach Crash at Irvine Avenue and Bristol Street
NEWPORT BEACH, CA (February 14, 2020) — A crash at Irvine Avenue and Bristol Street left two people injured in Newport Beach Wednesday night.
The Newport Beach police said involved were a UC Irvine student transportation van and a Chevrolet Suburban. The incident happened at about 10 p.m.
The investigators said the Suburban appeared to have run a red light. The driver, who was the only occupant, was sent to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries .
On the other hand, a driver and three passengers occupied the UC Irvine van. Emergency crews transported one of the passengers to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. The other three occupants refused treatment at the scene.
The authorities closed the intersection after the crash and reopened it by midnight.
Whether there were citations made in relation to the incident was not immediately clear. Further investigation is underway.
