Juvenile Injured and Arrested after Stolen Car Crash on Marine View Drive
DES MOINES, WA (December 26, 2019) – A 17-year-old girl was arrested after a stolen car crash on Marine View Drive, Thursday evening.
According to the Des Moines Police Department, the incident happened at about 9:00 PM. A Des Moines police officer spotted a car that had been reported stolen at 24th Avenue South and Kent-Des Moines Road.
Then, the officer attempted to pull the driver over. However, the driver did not stop and continued to speed down Marine View Drive. There, the fleeing vehicle struck a curb before colliding head-on with another car.
The driver, later identified as a 17-year-old girl, jumped out of the wreckage and attempted to flee the scene on foot. A short time later, officers caught her not far from the scene.
Emergency responders rushed the juvenile to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. Authorities later transported the girl to the King County Juvenile Corrections center and booked her on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle did not sustain injuries in the collision.
Des Moines police continue to investigate the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
